George Castle is an American freelance sports journalist and author, based in Chicago, Illinois.

Castle's most frequent assignment has been as the Chicago Cubs beat writer for The Times of Northwest Indiana. He spent many years as a sportswriter for Chicago's Lerner Newspapers.

He has written several books about the Cubs and general baseball history, including:

In his latest book “The 1969 Cubs,” co-written by Cubs Hall of Famer, Fergie Jenkins and longtime Chicago sportswriter George Castle, looks at the team from the perspective of that time frame, how the city and the fanbase got tremendously excited about the prospect of getting to the World Series. Remember, this was the first year of divisional play where teams would have to win a best-of-five League Championship Series to get to the World Series.

Don Zminda - The Legendary Harry Caray

In The Legendary Harry Caray: Baseball's Greatest Salesman, Don Zminda delivers the first full-length biography of Caray since his death in 1998. It includes details of Caray's orphaned childhood, his 25 years as the voice of the St. Louis Cardinals, his tempestuous 11 years broadcasting games for the Chicago White Sox, and the 16 years he broadcast for the Chicago Cubs while also becoming a nationally-known celebrity. Interviews with significant figures from Caray's life are woven throughout, from his widow Dutchie and grandson Chip to broadcasters Bob Costas, Thom Brennaman, Dewayne Staats, Pat Hughes, and more.

Caray was known during his final years as a beloved, often-imitated grandfather figure with the Cubs, but the story of his entire career is much more nuanced and often controversial. Featuring new information on Caray's life--including little-known information about his firing by the Cardinals and his feuds with players, executives, and fellow broadcasters--this book provides an intimate and in-depth look at a broadcasting legend.

Willson Contreras & Carlos Zambrano - Dos Hombres

Originally known as “The Big Reveal - Part 2” this show gives you some of the details of the upcoming event of the summer - Club 400 presents Contreras and Zambrano.

 

Willson Contreras was promoted to the Chicago Cubs on June 17, 2016 and what a time to make it to the show. On June 19th, he hit a two-run homer on the first pitch of his first major league at-bat and has never looked back since. He was voted as the starting catcher in the 2018 All-Star Game.

 

Carlos Zambrano, nicknamed “Big Z’ or “El Toro”, pitched for the Chicago Cubs from 2001 to 2012. Zambrano had six pitches, including a heavy sinker, cutter, splitter, four-seam fastball, slider and curveball. Zambrano was the only National League pitcher to win at least 13 games in each year from 2003 to 2008. In 2006, he became the first player from Venezuela to lead the National League in wins.

As part of the most epic event in 2019 at Club 400 - in honor of Deputy Jacob Keltner - Club 400 Podcast had five Cubs Legends on the stage at one time. Representing the 1969 Cubs team - hall of famer - Fergie Jenkins and Randy Hundley, the 1984 Cubs - Gary Matthews and Bobby Dernier and in between years - Ray Burris. This is a collection of the nicest former players to ever grace the stage at Club 400....enjoy.
